Dim Pahar

Dim Pahar is an emotion for every mountain enthusiast in Bangladesh. Yes, it is a mountain, and the top of it is egg-shaped. For that reason, it is called Dim Pahar (“Dim” = Egg in the Bangla language). Among tourists, it’s not as famous as a mountain; it’s famous for a road. A road that goes over Dim Pahar, a road that takes you to the clouds, a road that shows the sweet union of clouds and mountains, a road that is recognized as the highest road in Bangladesh. To improve the Bandarban transportation system, the Bangladesh army made this road 2,500 feet above sea level, and even the army lost three officers during the road construction. So, this road is a blessing for us from our pride, the Bangladesh Army.
How it looks
The road of Dim pahar is terribly beautiful. There is a saying that where nature is terrible, there is a terrible beauty in nature. I think this proverb’s meaning is embodied in Dim Pahar. The road is remote and steeper, and only the purest nature of Bandarban is there. There are only green hills on both sides of the road, and these hills are surrounded by breathtaking beauty. The most important feature of the hill is that most of the time, it is wrapped in clouds. Also, this road features many viewpoints where enthusiasts can enjoy the vast beauty of Bandarban’s nature at ease. The moral of the story is that the road of Dim Pahar is not lacking even a single percent in terms of natural beauty. Despite that beauty, only a few enthusiasts come here, and the maximum are bikers. Remote areas, risky roads, and no dedicated transportation service are the reasons behind its lack of popularity. So what? I have already visited it, and now, my friend, it’s your turn.
Location of Dim Pahar
Dim Pahar is nestled 14 km away from the Enrich travel upazila Thanchi, Bandarban. The road I am talking about connects Tanchi to Alikadam. I rank the road after Marine Drive Road Cox’s Bazar in terms of most beautiful road in Bangladesh.

How to go
The road of Dim Pahar is made to help ease the local people’s movement, and at first, no one knew that this road would showcase the mountainous nature of Bandarban so beautifully. From the beginning, locals have been traveling in their own vehicles, and there is no dedicated travel service for tourists on this road. But money can arrange everything:
Normal way
Dhonesh Chattar of Bandarban which is 10 miniute walk away from Bus stand. Tourist travel vehicles like Jeep, Mahindra Jeep, CNG, etc., are available from this Dhonesh Chattar to explore Bandarban. However, exploring the streets of Dim Pahar would cost you a lot of money.
Alternative way
There is a bus service from Bandarban to Thanchi, so take a bus from Bandarban to Thanchi. Locals in Thanchi mostly travel by bike, and many of them work as tourist guides there. You can contact any of them and take their bike to the Dim pahar. The bike is the sweetest transportation for Dim Pahar to visit.
Bikers
Travel enthusiasts who are bikers, every year they exacute road trip plan like Bandarban to Alikadam, Bandarban to Cox’s Bazar, etc, to enjoy the natural side of hilly Bandarban. If you own a bike, you should join them and enjoy the natural side of Bandarban along with the Dim Pahar.
Best time to visit
Summer doesn’t go with mountains. Besides, I like the mountains in the other 5 seasons of Bangladesh. The mountains present themselves in a different way in each season.

Frequently ask questions
1. Is Dim Pahar Road safe for travel?
It is a remote road located at a high altitude in Bandarban, so obviously, it is a little bit dangerous. If something untoward happens on the road, it will take a long time for help to arrive, and there is no phone network at all in some places on the road. So it is better to come with a group, and if you want to travel alone, definitely hire a guide.
2. Accommodation and meals?
You will find good hotels and resorts to stay and eat in Thanchi.
3. Do you have a bike?
No, but I already saved a good amount of money to buy a bike. If I buy one I will tell all of you.

There is a saying in the travel zone of Bangladesh that those who have not visited Bandarban have not seen half of the beauty of Bangladesh. And if you are in that queue, then I offer you a bucket of sympathy from my side. If anyone comes to visit Bandarban in the future, then definitely visit and do not refuse with any excuse.
