Sajek valley
The best place to recover and rejuvenate is in nature. I always believe that nature can heal one like magic. However, nowadays every development in our civilization is taking us away from the natural beauty and peace that we all need.
Sajek Valley, ‘The Roof of Rangamati’, is one of the most likable places by tourists and travelers in my country. Because of the greenery and dense forests, this valley has become very popular. It can fulfill all the needs we ask for from nature. It is nature’s one of the most captivating places you ever find in Bangladesh. Sajek Valley holds the exotic beauty of nature that is very rare to find anywhere in this world. People know Sajek Valley as ‘The Kingdom of Clouds’ and also recognize it as the ‘Queen of the Valley’. And why not, the surroundings of the valley are simply breathtaking. Below, a lush green valley stretches as far as our eyes can see, like a vast emerald carpet adorned with delicate embroidery of meandering streams and winding pathways. The sweet aroma of pine trees and wildflowers permeates the clear, crisp air. The sky above is a huge expanse of azure, speckled with fluffy clouds that float languidly in the light wind. In every direction, jagged peaks rise majestically, their rugged slopes adorned with cascading waterfalls that glisten like diamonds in the sunlight. Each curve of the landscape seems to have been carefully crafted by the hands of a master artist, creating a scene of unparalleled beauty that captivates the soul.
Location of Sajek Valley:
This exquisite place of interest is located in the northern piece of the Chittagong hill tracts among the slopes of the Kasalong scope of mountains in Sajek Association, Baghaichhari Upazila in Rangamati District.
How to go to:
Geographically, Rangamati District is the holder of the Sajek Valley. But To go there, you have to come to Khagrachhari first, there is no alternative way.
After reaching Khagrachri, come to Shapla Chattar to rent a travel vehicle. Then, hire a vehicle (Bike/CNG/Chander Gari/Mahindra jeep) for the entire trip. To go to Sajek Valley tourists have to reach Baghaihat Army camp at 10 AM or before 3 PM. In this army camp, The army will enlist all the tourists’ names, and then a group of Army team will lead the tourists’ vehicle to the Sajek Valley at these two scheduled times. After 3 PM, the army doesn’t allow anyone to go to Sajek Valley. This is all for tourist safety, and for the enlistment of tourists may need to show their NID cards. So my friends take a photo of your NID card with your phone and show it when you need it. You don’t need to bring your NID card everywhere. I do this too.
The vehicle ‘Chander gari’ is very famous. It is a four-wheeler jeep, nothing special. The only specialty is it is mostly hired by the visitors. It is the main tourist transport there.
Features that Sajek Valley holds:
1. Environment: From the middle of the year until winter, Sajek Valley is surrounded by clouds or mists. All of these create a soul-refreshing environment and most tourists come here just to live in this environment.
2. Scenic beauty: My friends, Sajek Valley is a green valley. So mountains, lush green, and clouds surely create the scenic beauty of nature.
3. Resorts: The whole valley is filled with numerous resorts. It has both positive and negative aspects. The good thing is travelers and tourists get proper accommodation and food. And the bad thing is way too much resort. It’s not nice to see so many resorts in a natural place. These resorts indeed give the best opportunity to enjoy Sajek Valley.
4. Waterfalls: This valley is not known for waterfalls but it features a few waterfalls (konglak Riang Waterfall, Sikam Twaisa Waterfall, and Konglak Twisa Waterfall).
5. Konglak Hill: The peak point of Sajek Valley and the perfect spot for enjoying the sunrise and the sunset from the valley.
Activities:
1. Walk around: Sajek Valley is not very big but its beauty is incomparable. So, walk around and enjoy the enviroment.
2. Enjoy the Sajek Morning: People come here just to live a morning. Yes, you read right to live a morning people come here. You already know that the whole valley is always covered with clouds. The density of the clouds increases in the morning which makes the morning more aesthetic. When people wake up in the valley in the morning, they find themselves in the clouds.
3. Trekking: Obviously Sajek Valley isn’t ideal for trekking but tourists can trek there. They can trek on Konglak Hill and enjoy sunset/sunrise or they can trek to see waterfalls.
4. Do nothing: Cozily sit on the balcony of the luxury resort you rent and get mixed with the cloudy nature. Sitting with the clouds in a resort in a mountain valley 450 meters above sea level is a different feeling.
Timing: I prefer to go to Sajek Valley right before winter. From my observation, I find this time is the best time to visit the Sajek Valley.
Safety: In Sajek Valley you don’t need to worry about safety because the whole valley is protected by Bangladesh Army.
Special attention: There, you don’t need a guide to roam around unless you decide to explore waterfalls. As a guide, local people are best.
Sajek Valley is not just a place of beauty; it is a sanctuary for the spirit, a heaven of tranquility amidst the chaos of the world.
