Waterfalls in Bangladesh

We have all heard that everything but death may be cured by nature. It is so true, and I believe the waterfall is one of the best medicines of nature. The medicine is made of the sound of flowing cold water, fresh air, pure nature, and the visual Serenity. The sound of flowing cold water instantly reduces stress. Fresh air increases the oxygen flow to the brain and sets the mood to be happy. Pure nature brings tranquility to the mind, and visual Serenity lifts the soul no matter how low you feel. And the moment you dive into a waterfall, you free yourself from every shackle of life. And we Bangladeshi are really lucky because we have numerous waterfalls in Bangladesh. Here on Huntingworldbeauty, I present some best waterfalls in Bangladesh.
1. Hum Hum waterfalls:
Let’s start with the hidden waterfall of the tea paradise of Bangladesh. The waterfall was discovered in 2009 at the Rajkandhi reserve forest of Kamalganj and became one of the adventurous spots of Sreemanagal for travel enthusiasts. It is situated in the Moulvibazar District’s Kamalganj Upazila, however, Sreemangal Upazila is quite close by. To conquer Hum hum waterfalls, one has to go through the forest, overcome 4-5 hills, and stream paths. The trail is 4 kilometers, but the obstacles of the forest make it an adventurous trail, and at least 2 to 3 hours are needed to reach. While trekking, travel enthusiasts can see a few villages in Tripura state, as the waterfall is located very close to India’s Tripura state. The water of this waterfall flows down from the top of a green hill 40 to 50 meters high, and the flow of the water is good; its location can be felt from a long distance.

2. Madhabkunda Waterfall
There is another waterfall of 162 feet high in Barlekha, another upazila of Moulvibazar District. It is located in the Madhabkundo eco-park of Barlekha Upazila and is named after it. Madhabkundo waterfall is one of the waterfalls that was discovered at the beginning. In other words, this waterfall has introduced us to what a waterfall is, and its popularity was noticeable in the beginning. Now, after many more waterfalls have been discovered in different parts of the country, this waterfall has become somewhat hidden. However, this waterfall never disappoints tourists, be it winter or monsoon.

3. Mayabi Waterfall
Now, let’s come to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sylhet. Mayabi Waterfall is located at the foot of the Meghalaya Hills in Jaflong, Sylhet. Tourists can see this waterfall by walking for 10 minutes across the river in Jaflong. Its water flows from many big rocks which looks very beautiful but unfortunately it does not have water in all seasons except rainy season. So, to see the Mayabi waterfall, you should definitely plan a tour in the rainy season.

4. Panthumai waterfall
Another waterfall located at the foot of Meghalaya is the Panthumai Waterfall, which we can only enjoy from a distance. This waterfall falls on Indian land, so Bangladeshi visitors can only see it from a distance and cannot go near it. This waterfall divides a large hill in Meghalaya into two and flows on its own vibe. The flow between the mountains creates soothing visuals. It would have been much better if the Bangladeshi border was 1-2 kilometers longer; this incredibly beautiful Panthumai waterfall would have been ours. The whole of Meghalaya belongs to India; what if we had just this little piece of Meghalaya? Our emotions could have been persuaded. This waterfall should have been ours, this only increases our regret now.

5. Nafakhum Waterfall
Leaving aside regrets, let’s explore the waterfalls of Bandarban in the kingdom of tranquility. One of the most famous waterfalls among travel enthusiasts in Bandarban is Nafakhum Waterfall. To see this hidden art in the depths of Bandarban, you have to cross the most beautiful Sangu River, trek for hours in the deep forest, and overcome many obstacles. Despite its small size, the waterfall is among Bangladesh’s most exquisite due to its position and shape.

6. Amiakhum Waterfall
Did you notice the two waterfall names are similar: Nafakhum and Amiakhum? Just like their names, they are very similar in their appearance, their source, and their shape. The difference is that the Amiakhum Waterfall is located in more deeper forest than Nafakhum Waterfall. So, the journey will be more adventurous than Nafakhum Waterfall. There are two trails to go to Amiakhum waterfall:
If you trek a few more hours from Nafakhum waterfall, you will see Amiakhum waterfall.

7. Baklai waterfall
Baklai Waterfall is my favorite waterfall in my land. As the water descends from it, the water looks like clouds or mists to me. Its height &location are the main reasons why it is the most favorite; from 392 feet, the water descends like a cloud in the deep forest. The view of water falling like clouds in the forest is so soothing to see that I can’t express it with words. To hunt this waterfall, you need quite a bit of time on your hands. Just to see the Baklai waterfall, I spent 4 days at Bandarban.

8. Tinap Saitar
Tinap Saitar is another waterfall hidden deep in Bandarban, the largest waterfall in Bangladesh in terms of volume. Travelers don’t need to look at it; the water-dropping sound of it is enough to make them fall in love with it. One of the special things about Bandarban’s waterfalls is that most of them are located deep in the forest; to explore them, you have to do trekking, which is full of adventure.

9. Jadi pai Waterfall
Keokradong is one of the most popular mountains in Bangladesh, and there is a waterfall near it. Travel enthusiasts often find it while summiting this mountain. Seeing its beauty at that time, travel enthusiasts called it the queen of waterfalls. When you see it during the monsoon season, you can understand why people call it the queen of waterfalls.

10. Shuvolong Waterfall
Now let’s look for waterfalls in the Lake city of Bangladesh, Rangamati. The most popular waterfall in Rangamati is Shuvolong Waterfall. When tourists visit Kaptai Lake, no one comes without seeing this waterfall. This waterfall is also located on the banks of Kaptai Lake, its beauty can be enjoyed from the lake. But the sad thing is that the waterfall does not have water for 12 months, and the waterfall has the most water during the rainy season.

11. Dhuppani waterfall
Consider it a mystery waterfall of Rangamathi. I consider it a beautiful daughter of Nature who hides in the deep forest of Rangamati. To touch her, you have to accept a hard trekking trail. You have to cross the Kaptai Lake, river, a deep forest over 4 hills, cross tribal Village, and then you will find the beautiful daughter Dhuppani waterfall. Local people discovered it in 2000. At that time, local people found a Buddhist monk meditating under the waterfall. There is a unique feature to it. A cave-type structure is found in it, probably where the monk meditated.

12. Risang Waterfall
Its water falls from a small hill and then falls another slope, and the water flows down the slope. As a result, a natural slide has been created there. I have enjoyed the slide there at least 10 times. It’s like beauty with a slider. This delightful waterfall is located in the Sapmara village of Matiranga, upazila of Khagrachhari district.

13. Napittachora trail
A trail of waterfalls, probably 4 major waterfalls: Bandarkhum, Mithaichari, Baghbiani, and Khupikatakhum. The waterfalls and the trail are as beautiful as they are dangerous. During my trip, my guide said that this trail has claimed the lives of 7 hikers so far. So be careful while exploring the waterfalls, and don’t be afraid. There is no greater protector in the world than nature.
