Amiakhum Waterfall is a delightful spot of great Bandarban. In fact, it is well known as one of the best waterfalls in Bandarban where you can enjoy Bandarban’s absolute nature fully. It is nestled in the deep forest( pretty close to Myanmar Broader) of Bandarban where verdure hills enfold it. Under the foothills, it looks stunning, a picture-perfect art of Nature. Though it is a Waterfall it is also well-known as one of the prettiest trekking trails in Bandarban. Being inside the deep forest, the waterfall will surely give travel enthusiasts an incredible feeling of adventure; 3 to 4 hours boating on the Sangu River and then trekking on hilly terrain, dense forests, and rocky paths for long hours to explore the waterfall. This is what a travel enthusiast asks for. Amiakhum Waterfall is a place of nature where every second, every minute and every hour of yours will be your healing period. As already mentioned it nestled deep in the forest and bound by lush green hills. That represent the Bangladesh‘s hidden natural beauty. The landscape Amiakhum Waterfall make with the nature reflects serene, untouched, and incredibly picturesque which sooth any soul in a flash. layered rock formations that seem to have been exquisitely sculpted by nature over time, with a tiny cascade of water flowing between them. Amiakhum waterfall is hidden on the east side dense forest of Thanchi, the largest upazila of hilly Bandarban. For travel enthusiasts Thanchi is just not only a upazila but also treasure of natural breathtaking places.

How to go

Amiakhum Waterfall explortation is a time consuming trip, at least two days need. So normally travelers make adventurous roadmap for the trip, so that they can explore other beautiful places of Bandarban. Here I make three roadmap for my travel buddies. Each roadmap covers a lot of places in Bandarban.

Road map 1 (two days need)

Travel enthusiasts should have start their journey by traveling to Bandanbar city. Bandarban city is well connected by road from other parts of country, make sure you hop on the right bus and come to Bandarban city. Then either take Chander Gari (famous travel transportation of Hill District) or Bus to go Thanchi from Bandarban city. If your group is small, then buddy you should choose bus. It will be cost efficient way for small group.

Now you have to go to Remakri Falls from Thanchi, for that you have to take a boat from Thanchi Nouka Ghat. On this boat tour, travelers enjoy the Sangu River (The most beautiful river in Bangladesh), Raja Pathor spot, Thindu, and Remakri Falls. This boat will take at least 4 hours.

The real adventurous journey start from Remakri Falls. Travelers must show their bravery and strength. Travelers have to face a long trekking trail which can be long 6-9 hours. On the way, you will find another charming waterfall, the Nafakhum Waterfall. Pretty similar to Amikhum waterfall, enjoy it and keep trekking forward to the final destination. Return to Thanchi the way you came.

Note: From Thanchi Nouka Ghat, the boat service you will be take is an round trip boat service(Coming and going). So, on your return, the boat will be waiting at the Remarki Falls. So, do every things as you guys plan and schedule, so that you won’t miss the return boat.

Road map 2 (at least two day )

Just like the road map 1, buddy you have to reach Thanchi. Then Take a boat from Thanchi Nouka Ghat to Padma jhiri. It will take 40-50 minutes.

From Padma jhiri, the real thrill kicks into travelers mind, have to trek 14-16 km. On the way, travel enthusiasts witness numerous little fountains, hilly terrain, dense forests, rocky paths, and tribal people villages (Runajan Para, Horidchondro para) to reach Thuisa para another tribal village where travelers stay a night.

The next day buddy you have to overcome a hill called Devota Hill to explore the Amiakhum Waterfall. To return Thanchi, follow the raod map 1 return way. By doing this you will explore every spots of road map 1 & 2.

Road map 2 is very tough and risky, so don’t choose this one if you are not good at trekking.

Road map 3 ( three days need )

instead of going Bandarban, buddy you will go to Alikadam. In Alikadam there are placed called Chakaria or Alikadam bazar where you have to come according to this road map. From these places you will find travel vehicles like Chander gari, jeep, and bike. Take a suitable one according to you group to go to a place name 21 kilo.

In 21 kilo, there is a road that link Thindu. You can walk to Tindu along this road, it will take 2-2.5 hours at most to reach. You will walk to Tindu along this road, it will take you 2-2.5 hours to reach. From Tindu, walk along the Sangu river to a place called Baghermukh. At a distance of 40-45 minutes from this place, there is another wonderful hidden waterfall of Thanchi named Langlok waterfall. After exploring it, return to Baghermukh. From there, take a boat to enjoy the Sangu riverSangu River and reach Remakri Falls. After this, continue as per Road Map 1.

Nature
Caution

No matter how you choose to explore Amiakhum waterfall, you have to need a local guide. Without local guide tourists and travelers are not allowed to enter deep of parts hilly Bandarban. So a local guide is must and tourists can hire local guides from Thanchi , Chakaria or Alikadam bazar. Normally local guide charge 1000 BDT for per day and a local guide can lead a group of 10 people. Beside the charge, tourists have to bear guide’s food and accommodation expenses. One more thing, tourists &travelers must carry their NID card photocopies. The photocopies is essential in every Army camp. Without submitting the photocopies, Army won’t allow any tourist to go further.

Food and stay

Buddy as you will be trekking in the wild, you must carry your food no matter how you choose to go. Don’t worry, guide will help you in this matter. Along with carrying food, tourists will find proper food in Thindu & Remakri Falls.

Thindu, Baghermukh, and Remakri Falls are the places where travelers can find good hotels to stay overnight. If they choose Padma jhiri route, then they have to stay Thuisa para. Except for this two options, tourists can stay overnight by camping at Amiakhum Waterfall.

If you want to watch the waterfall at its fullest then the best time is monsoon but during monsoon trekking is very challenging. Then Leech and moskito make it more difficult. At the same time Sangu River become very terrible to ride boat. So, I suggest people to go just right after the rainy season


4. What to pack?
Comfortable trekking shoes, two sets of cloth, water bottle, light snacks, lighter or Flashlight, essential medicines, and Raincoat.

5. Boat fare?
Normally each boat can carry 6 person and it charge 4000-5000 BDT From Thanchi to Remakri Falls.

6. Buddget?
At least 6000-7000 BDT for two day trip plan.

You need to have a goal in life, otherwise you won’t understand the meaning of life.
