Madhabpur Lake is a beautiful and tranquil lake in the heart of tea capital of Bangladesh. It is known for its tranquil nature which easily bring soothness to anyone’s heart. But in the first place it is not natural, it was created to assist the tea plantation. The lake actually fall in a tea estate named Madhabpur Tea State which reflects the influence of the tea plantations in the Sylhet region by the British Colonial. But now it become one of most beautiful tourist places in Sreemangal. In the lake, all you need to do is just to find spot to sit where light breezes will touch your body, and you will spend your time relaxing with the picturesque view of the tea gardens and the calm waters of the lake. How it looks
The Madhabpur lake is approximately 3 kilometers long and the entire lake is surrounded by many small hills and these hills are covered with tea gardens from top to bottom. This lake was created in 1965 on 50 acres of land by means of a hill dam, and its width ranges between 50 and 300 meters. The lake’s long and narrow shape with calm water make it a scenic place on the region. The lake content Lotus and Water Lily flowers. At morning times, mist occupy over the lake and those flowers blossoms across the lake, then nothing look more beautiful than the lake. It’s genuinely a true gem hidden within the rolling tea gardens which surrounded by emerald green hills and misty horizons. Simply everything on the lake reflects the peaceful beauty of nature in its authentic domain.

As a first place, the lake is a huge reservoir of Madhabpur Tea Estate which is dedicated to supporting irrigation and water needs for the tea plantations. Secondly, in the winter season, it becomes a fine shelter for the migratory birds. Finally, it’s a great Sreemangal tourist spot that tourists are always fond of. The tranquility and scenic views of the surrounding hills are great, and you won’t believe it unless you visit there.

How to go
First of all, friends, you need to reach Sreemangal safely. Sreemangal can be reached safely by bus and train because Sreemangal is well connected to other places in Bangladesh through these two routes

Tourists never come Sreemangal just to visit Madhabpur lake, they usually explore it conjunction with other great attractions in Sreemangal like tea estates, Lasuban Gorge, Lawachara National Park, and Shitesh Babu’s Zoo. So to do that tourists usually book CNG, jeep and Chander gari for a day. Cng will be best if your group content three or four people, Chander gari or jeep will be best if your group is big. CNG costs 1500-1800 BDT per day and Chander gari or jeep costs 2500-2800 BDT per day. Normally tourists can rent these vehicles from Bhanugach Rd, Panshi Restaurant, and at the gate of railway station in Sreemangal
If my friend, you like to travel solo like me and want to visit just Madhabpur lake, then just rent a CNG to Madhabpur lake. Maximum, it will cost you 200 -250 BDT.

1. Natural walk: As you know Madhabpur Lake is very comfortable and is not very big, so slowly walk by its side and uncover it fully. It is very pleasant to walk by its side that’s why I called it a natural walk.
2. Photography: The tea gardens create luss green, little little hills make different angles, the lake represents the calmness of nature, and the blooming lotus flowers add more charm. Now tell me, isn’t it a good place to sustain your photography skills?
3. Bird Watching: Many migratory birds temporarily settle there during the winter. That gives tourists the luxury of watching these birds.
4. Relaxation: As I already described, just grab a perfect place around the lake and enjoy the soothing atmosphere.
5. Picnicking: A comfortable natural spot is a perfect spot for picnicking. And for that Madhabpur Lake is perfect, just make sure you are not polluting the spot. Take responsibility for your waste.
Food & accommodation
For proper meal tourists can intrust Panshi Restaurant and Pach Bhai Restaurant. From a long time, tourists are fond of these two hotels in Sreemangal. Both Restaurants are located at city. Since Sreemangal is a tourist city, tourists will find plenty of good restaurants besides these two restaurants.
During my trip, I stayed on Sreemangal Inn Hotel & Restaurant at 1500 BDT per day. Like this hotel there are plenty of hotels in the city. if tourists try a little bit hard to find a hotel, I am sure they will surely manage a good hotel under 1500 BDT.

Day tip plan
You will leave for Sreemangal at night, so that you can reach early in the morning. Sreemangal in the morning is very beautiful and fresh, do not forget to breathe in this pleasant atmosphere early in the morning. Upon reaching Sreemangal, have breakfast at Panshi Restaurant or Pach Bhai Restaurant. These restaurants will cost 20-30 BDT to reach from the bus stand and train station.
After breakfast, rent a vehicle for the whole day. Your first destination will be Noor Jahan tea estate, one of the largest tea estates in Sreemangal. After visiting this tea estate on your own, you will head towards the second destination. The second destination is the rubber garden, uncovering the mystery of how rubber is obtained from trees and the beauty of this garden. Your third destination will be Madhabpur lake, you can finish visiting these three spots before approximately 12 noon.
Then you will come to Lawachara National Park, where you will spend two to two and a half hours exploring. There is a small village of Khasia tribes inside the national park, do not forget to explore it. After exploring it, have lunch at Panshi Restaurant. After some rest, you will head towards the next destination Laltila Kali Mandir.
Its a Hindu religion temple but it is situated all the way at the of top Laltil Hill. From which tourists can enjoy the vast horizonal panoramic landscape. End day’s exploration by enjoying its beauty from the entire afternoon until evening. Afte the evening, you will return to Sreemangal city. At night, explore Sreemangal city a little, have dinner, and then take a bus or train to return home.

It is not wheelchair-friendly. The road to the lake is made up of hilly terrain, uneven paths, and some stairs, which can be difficult for wheelchair users. But, I’m sure you have wonderful friends who would be happy to accommodate your request.
