Amiakhum waterfall

In Bangladesh, Bandarban is also recognized for having numerous beautiful waterfalls. Among them, Amiakhum is a big name. It is a cute, little, and mind-blowing type. It is nestled in the deep forest of Bandarban where it is enfolded by verdure hills. The waterfall is made of three or four rocky staircases and the water continuously splashes there resulting in a white tinge to the water. It looks very stunning under the foothills of green hills. Being inside the deep forest, the waterfall will surely give you an incredible adventure feel. This is what a natural lover asks for. Amiakhum is well-known as a waterfall but has another well-known identity; one of the hard trekking trails in the Bandarban. Again I say, it is a hard trek, not a risky trek. Overall, Amiakhum is a very beautiful waterfall where every second, every minute, and every hour of yours will be your healing period. Did you wanna miss the healing place of nature?

Location:

Amiakhum waterfall is hidden on the east side dense forest of Thanchi, the largest upazila of hilly Bandarban.

How to go:

Amiakhum and Nafakhum waterfall’s best part is their reaching way. I mean the trekking trails they offer to the natural lovers are truly amazing. One thing my friend, if you aren’t good at handling Hard trekking, then you have to give up your dream of seeing Amiakhum waterfall. On top of that, you have to stay in a tribal village one night on the Amiakhum way. Natural lovers endure all of these just to see the adorable waterfall, they are not enduring it, they are loving it. Now back to business, Amiakhum Waterfall can be conquered in two ways. One is via Padma Jhiri to Thuisa para to Amiakhum and the other one is via Remakri to Nafakhum waterfall to Amiakhum waterfalls. Very few crazy travelers like you and me use both ways to conquer Amiakhum. Let me explain, how travelers do it. First, they come to Thanchi from Bandarban. Except for Bandarban, there is no transportation service to go to Thanchi. After that, they came to Thanchi Nouka Ghat on the Sangu River where they booked a boat for their entire journey (to go and to come back). By boat they come to Padma jhiri and start trekking from there, they have to trek 17 km. In this way, they witness numerous little fountains and streams, get the actual thrilling experience of deep forest (it is really adventuring and the spectacular views of deep forest are breathtaking), explore tribal people villages (Runajan Para, Horidchondro para) to reach Thuisa para another tribal village where they stay a night. The next day they trek over the deadly Devota hill to visit the Glouris Amiakhum waterfall. Velakhum, Naiyakkhang Khum, Mathvara Khum, and Saatbhaikhum are located in the surroundings of the Amiakhum waterfall. After enjoying the stunning waterfall, they came back to Thuisa Para and then headed to Nafakhum. After a while of trekking, they reached the Nafakhum waterfall and enjoyed it and then came to Remarki Falls. In there, their booked boat is waiting for them to take them thanchi. Their boat goes via Raja Pahtor ( a famous tourist spot on the Sanghu River) to thanchi. This trekking trail just not only covers Amiakhum waterfall but also covers a few tribal villages, the maximum natural attractions of thanchi ( Padma Jhiri, Deadly Devota Hill, Velakhum, Naiyakkhang Khum, Mathvara Khum, Saatbhaikhum, Nafakhum waterfall, remarki falls, tindu, Raja pahtor, and the most beautiful Sangu river. Yes, it is hard and risky but it is totally worth every second of yours. You can choose just the Nafakhum trail to visit Amiakhum and come back. This way is easier and safer than the first one. But I prefer the first one.

Note:

Considering the weather and surroundings of Thanchi your guide has the final call to choose the route. On your way, you have to utilize your time and not waste on unnecessarily.

Activity:

1. Trekking: Need to know more about it?

2. camping: with a guide, travelers can do camping at Amiakhum.

3. Taking a bath at the waterfall: What, come to the waterfall and do not bathe. then you are an alien.

4. Photography: I don’t need to say it, Bengalis don’t forget to take pictures wherever they go. And Amiakhum is a place where anyone can become a photographer. Wherever you take a picture, it will look like a picture drawn by an artist Guide: To enter Thanchi, travelers need to entry their names into the Army camp, so bring your NID card. Normally to visit Amiakhum, travelers will need two guides. And without a guide, travelers can’t think of visiting Amiakhum.
