Dim Pahar
Basically, it’s a hill and its top of the shape is egg-like. And for that reason, local people call it Dim Pahar (Egg = “Dim” in the Bangla language). Among tourists, it’s not as famous as a hill; it’s famous for its road. yes, I said the right. A road that goes over the Dim Pahar, a road that takes you to the clouds, a road that is recognized as the highest-height road in my country. Bangladesh Army made this road 2500 feet above sea level. Even the Army lost three officers for the road. It is painful to know that. So, this road is a blessing for us from our pride Bangladesh Army. Now, we should focus on the road. The road gets steeper and more dangerous as it goes toward Dim Pahar. There is a saying, that where nature is terrible, there is a terrible beauty side of nature. I think this proverb’s reality form is Dim Pahar. The most important feature of the hill is most of the time it is wrapped by clouds. Also, this road features many viewpoints where travelers can enjoy the vast beauty of nature. Despite that beauty, only a few tourists come here and maximum are bikers in them. Remote areas, risky roads, and no dedicated transportation service are behind of its lack popularity. So what, I already visited it, and now my friend its your turn.
Location:
Dim Pahar is neslted 14 km away from the Enrich travel upazila Thanchi, Bandarban.
How to go:
The bike is the sweetest transportation for Dim Pahar to visit. If you own a bike and you are a bike traveler, Dim Pahar Road will surely enchant you. However, as a tourist, you have to come first to Bandarban or Alikadam to visit Dim Pahar. Bandarban is near and there are more possible transportation services than in Alikadam. (Yes, there is no dedicated service but money can arrange everything). I give more information assuming that you have come to Bandarban. Then, either you go to Dhonesh Chattar where you find tourist transportation to go Thanchi, or the bus stand where find many Bandarban to Thanchi on going buses. I prefer the bus over any other transportation to go to Thanchi. With a bit of searching and effort in Thanchi, you can manage a bike. And if can’t do that, then take a “CNG” (three-wheeler vehicle) and go to Dim Pahar.
Activity:
On the way from Thanchi to Dim Pahar, stop wherever you find interesting, enjoy it, and don’t forget to capture the moment. And all the last the magical Dim Pahar is there to enchant you.
Timing:
Already you know the road is steeper toward Dim Pahar. The road gets more dangerous in monsoon. So, monsoon season is not a good choice on the other hand monsoon is the time when Bandarban takes its finest form. So, if you decide to visit it in monsoon, be more careful. Summer and mountain don’t match. Winter is suitable, tourists can’t tell whether the hill is covered with clouds or mist but can witness the extraordinary beauty of nature.
Guide:
If possible take a guide with you. After all, it’s a remote area. It’s not mandatory but I suggest you take one. Oh, don’t forget to bring NID card/student ID card or its copy, because you roaming Bandarban. In Bandarban, NID/student ID card is mandatory to pass through every checkpoint.
Blindly I can rank the Dim Pahar Road as number two of the most aesthetic roads in Bangladesh. Now I want to know what ranking you would put it after visiting it. Please ???? Share your experience with me.
