Lala Khal

Lala Khal

The Sylhet division of Bangladesh is filled with Haors, Baors, Beels, and various types of rare water bodies. For this reason, Sylhet is called the wetland division, and they are incredibly beautiful. It is as if the works of an artist are spread throughout the Sylhet division. Lala Khal is another incredibly beautiful water body of the Sylhet division. Actually, Lala Khal is not a part of any water body, but rather a part of the Shari-Goyain River. And perhaps the Shari-Goyain River’s most picturesque section. How many ways nature can highlight its beauty can be seen by seeing the Lala Khal part of this river.

How it looks

The Shari-Goyain River enters Sylhet from the Indian Meghalayan hills. The river brings many mineral particles with its flow from the hills of Meghalaya. The Lala Khal part of Sylhet is very clear and the bottom is completely sandy and rocky, due to which the mineral particles coming with the flow of water in this part can retain the light of the sunlight. Consequently, the color of the water in this part is blue-turquoise, and this color is really stunning. On top of this color of the water, the surroundings of Lala Khal are filled with green trees. As the days go by, tourists are also coming from across the border of Bangladesh to see the magnificent beauty of it. Recently, “Dabble and Travel” a famous couple-travel blogger & “Wandering Emma” a travel-loving woman on YouTube visited Lala Khal. “Incredible and Stunning” These two words came out of their mouths after seeing Lala Khal. Now, it’s your turn, buddy, to say these words to Lalakhal, one of the best tourist places in Sylhet.

Location of Lala Khal

It should be called a feature of Lala Khal. It is on the way to Jaintapur, DB Haor, and Tamabil. Travel enthusiasts can explore Lala Khal after visiting these places or explore Lala Khal and go to see these places. The highway from Jaintapur to Tamabil is my favorite, it is a very beautiful road.

How to go

In most cases, tourists explore Lala Khal along with other tourist places in Sylhet. So, tourists book cars, microbuses, Lagoonas, and CNGs from Subhanighat Point, Osmani Shishu Uddan, Ambarkhana, and sylhet railway station. If tourists only want to visit the Lala Khal, then the local bus is ideal. After all, Lala Khal is quite far away from Sylhet City, most probably 45 kilometers away. Go to the Subhanighat or Kadamtoli Bus Terminal, board any bus on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway, and hop down at Sarighat Bus Stand. If tourists search a little, they will find a big banner of Lala Khal pointing to a boat ghat. From here, tourists can rent boats and enjoy the Khal. But the boat cost here is too much, like 1500-2500 BDT.

Budget way from Sarighat

Don’t worry, guys, there is a budget way to enjoy the Khal. If tourists walk a little further from Sarighat Bus Stand or directly from the bus to Sarighat North Bus Stand, then they will see a place called auto car stand where many auto cars are parked. The Khal is located 35-40 minutes away from the auto car stand. And for this short distance, the fare per person in the auto car is 20-30 BDT. To reach the Sharighat North Bus Stand, the bus fare per person will be 70-100 BDT.

The best time to visit

The calmer the river, the darker its turquoise color becomes and the more beautiful it looks. The river is usually calmer in winter, so it goes without saying that winter is best.
