Lasuban Gorge /Lasubon Canyon

I am sure my friend either you have just heard this spot’s name or you are in Sreemangal, want to roam more places except for tea gardens, and you learned about the Lasuban Gorge. Now, you want to find out if this spot is worth a visit. Definitely, it’s worth visiting, travel enthusiasts named it the hidden gem of Sreemangal. If you visit this place, you will forget that you are in Sreemangal, the tea capital of Bangladesh. Rather, you will feel like you are walking on a narrow path at the bottom of a 70-80-foot-high mountain somewhere in the deep forests of Bandarban or Rangamati. Even those who have not visited this place yet do not want to believe that this is a tourist spot in Sreemangal. So let’s travel to Lasuban Gorge /Lasubon Canyon to enjoy Sreemangal differently.
How it looks
During the monsoon season, the volume and flow of the water in this canyon are very high. This flow brings many stones, broken trees, and more things. Once the monsoon is over, these drifts make the canyon inaccessible, making it a beautiful trekking trail. I really like the trekking trail. You will see the stream in this canyon from start to end. Sometimes the canyon becomes so narrow that hand breadth touches the rocky wall on both sides. In somewhere the canyon, you will find small flows of water coming down from the Stoney-side wall. Sometimes the canyon becomes very dark, like it is an entrance of a cave. Here I love watching the sunlight fall through the gap in the deep forest. It seems as if something opened a golden portal to come on Earth. Absolute nature, rugged trekking way, flowing water, and its sound will make you feel like you are in a forest in Bnadarban. But somehow this natural beauty remained hidden from the world. And the saddest thing is that this canyon can not be fully trekked, because some of its parts fall into India. So what, it doesn’t make the adventurous vibe any less.
Location of Lasuban Gorge
The mystical spot Lasuban Gorge is a border-side tourist place. How much of it is in the Indian state of Tripura is beyond me. Nahar Tea Garden is 19 kilometers south of Sreemangal, and Lasuban Gorge is 1 hour walk away from there.

How to go
The best way to go to Sreemangal is by train, then come to Sreemangal safely by train. Then rent a Chander car or CNG(The most used travel vehicle) and go to Nahar Tea Garden. A little bit far you will now arrive in a Khasia community‘s village. From this village, definitely hire a guide and start exploring Lasuban Gorge. Do not go without a guide, this is a border area. Only the guides know how far the tourists can go.
The budget way to go
The above way is good but not good for solo travel or small groups in trem of budget. I am finding another way for them. From Sreemangal Railway Station, take a local vehicle to Sindurkhan Road, the fare will be 10-20 BDT. From there, take another local vehicle to Sindurkhan Bazar, the fare will be 50-80 BDT per head. From here, reserve a CNG to go to, and from Nahar Tea Garden, you can reserve a CNG within 400-800 BDT. You know the rest of the way.

Activity
Just trek through the rugged way of the gorge. Just watch your step and trek normally there. It would be good if tourists used proper trekking shoes or good grip shoes. This is enough to enjoy the canyon fullest.
Timing:
Don’t think about visiting there in monsoon, because at that time water occupies the canyon and for tourists, it becomes impossible to explore. Summer and trek don’t match, apart from these two seasons, all other seasons are ok to visit Lasuban Gorge /Lasubon Canyon. Maybe winter is suitable. Try to start your journey early in the morning, as the gorge becomes darker by noon.
