Lasuban Gorge /Lasubon canyon
I am sure my friend either you have just heard this spot name or you are in Sreemangal, want to roam more places except for tea gardens, and you find out Lasuban Gorge /Lasubon canyon. Now, you want to find out if this spot is worth a visit. All I can do is give you a detailed description of this place. So, keep reading.
During the monsoon season, the volume and flow of the water in this canyon are very high. This flow brings many stones, broken trees, and more things. Once the monsoon is over, these drifts make the canyon inaccessible, making it a beautiful trekking trail. I really like the trekking trail. You will see the stream in this canyon from start to end. Sometimes the canyon becomes so narrow that hand breadth touches the rocky wall on both sides. In somewhere the canyon, you will find small flows of water coming down from the Stoney-side wall. Sometimes the canyon becomes very dark, like it is an entrance of a cave. Here I love watching the sunlight fall through the gap in the deep forest. It seems as if something opened a golden portal to come on Earth. Absolute nature, rugged trekking way, flowing water, and its sound will make you feel like you are in a forest in Bnadarban. But it is situated just 20 km away from the tea kingdom Sreemangal. But somehow this natural beauty remained hidden from the world. That’s why I named it a hidden gem of Sreemangal. And the saddest thing is that this canyon can not be fully trekked, because some of its parts fall into India. So what, it doesn’t make the adventurous vibe any less.
Location:
I already mentioned it is in Sreemangal.
How to go:
As Lasuban Gorge is located in Sreemangal, so you need to be here to explore it. So come Sreemangal. Buses and trains are available to go to Sreemangal from Dhaka. I prefer the train over the bus to go to Sreemangal. Because when traveling, I like to spend quality time with friends. Like playing Uno cards, and teasing my friends all the time, and there are many things we do. So for that, we need space and trains have this luxury. Whatever, you reached Sreemangal on your way. Now book a vehicle for your Lasuban Gorge trip as there is no dedicated route service. If you are traveling alone, I mean a solo traveler then a bike can be a proper vehicle for you. Booking an entire car for one is nothing but foolish. Search deeply in Sreemangal, I am confident you will manage a bike for your trip. By vehicle go to Nahar Pungi helipad, then hire a local guide from Nahar Pungi. The guide will take you to Lasuban Gorge /লাসুবন গিরিখাত within 1 hour. Then what, satisfy your beauty hunt?
Note:
As it is located near the Bangladesh-India Border and also it is also a forest area. Must hire a guide to discover the canyon, even if you are an alien from another planet. Usually, Nahar Pungi local people work as a guide there and they don’t charge high. On my visit, I hire one for just 400 Taka.
Activity:
Just trekking through the canyon. My friends hold your imagination, it is not a terrible canyon like we see in the movies. Of course, as a natural spot, it has a few risks but it is not that terrible. Just watch your step and trek normally there. This is enough to enjoy the canyon fullest.
Timing:
Don’t think about visiting there in monsoon, because at that time water occupies the canyon fully. Summer is not good for trekking. Apart from these two seasons, all other seasons are ok to visit Lasuban Gorge /Lasubon Canyon. Maybe winter is perfect.
If anyone explores this canyon after reading this blog. Please inform me about your experience. It will become my happiness. Because I have been successful in making you visit Lasuban Gorge /Lasubon canyon.
