Mawa Ghat

A favorite place for the people of Dhaka. Dhaka’s around is the place that the people of Dhaka visit most. It is actually a ferry ghat, but as much as people go here for the ferry, it’s more than that for another purpose. It’s not a purpose; it is Bengalis’ favorite fish, Hilsha, and it is also the national fish of my country. This fish is our emotion, and its flavor is so tasteful. The combination of fried hilsa fish, hilsa fish tail Bharta, fried eggplant, and hot rice makes it a heavenly food. Bengalis are dying to eat this food. Simply consuming Hilsha fish, visitors from all over the nation, including international tourists, congregate here in addition to Dhaka residents. It is amazing that foreign tourists come all the way to Mawa Ghat for dining, and it is even more interesting that all foreign tourists so far have given positive responses about Mawa Ghat’s Hilsha fish. Since the construction of the dream Padma Bridge, people now come to Mawa Ghat only to eat Hilsha fish. So, the present Mawa Ghat is all about Hilsha fish. The Hilsha fish make the Mawa ghat one of the best places to visit in Dhaka.
How to go Mawa Ghat:
Many buses are available from Gulistan, Jatrabari, and Gabtali in Dhaka to Mawa Ghat, such as Ilish, Basumoti, Shadin, Prochesta, and Bikrompur Express. Take any of these buses and go along the Dhaka – Mawa Highway and you will reach Mawa within 35-50 minutes. From there you will come to Mawa Ghat by rickshaw. If you have your own car/bike then going to Mawa Ghat will be more pleasant. The express highway of Dhaka – Mawa is one of the finest roads in Bangladesh to drive. These types of roads are not often found in my country. So we Bangalies really enjoy this road while going to Mawa Ghat.
If you don’t like roads, then you can go to Mawa by Train. From Kamalapur Railway Station, every day around 3 PM a train goes that way.

Activities tourists can do:
1. The first and foremost activity is to eat Hilsa fish. In Mawa Ghat, there are way too many hotels and restaurants. The best part is that tourists have the ability to select their own Hilsa fish. They also have to buy Mustard oil with the fish and then give it to the respective chef. Now sit quietly on a chair or can see how your fish is being cooked and how hilsa fish tail Bharta is being made. After cooking, the fried Hilsa fish and hilsa fish tail Bharta will be served with fried eggplant, various kinds of Bharta, and rice. Just enjoy the food.
Note: Be careful to eating Hilsa fish because it has many fishbones. Otherwise, the fishbone will be stuck in the throat.
2. In addition to Hilsa fish, Mawa Ghat is situated on the shore of my nation’s greatest river. Thus, Mawa Ghat offers a chance to take in the Padma River’s vastness and splendor. If you cross the Padma River and go to the Bhangha intersection on the other side, you can enjoy the most scenic side of the Dhaka-Mawa express Highway.
3. The country’s largest and dream bridge has been built on the Padma River. Tourists can take a boat to see this dream bridge from very close if they want.
4. Wander through the fields that rise from the river and enjoy your time.

Best time to visit:
March to April and October, avoid visiting Mawa Ghat during these months. Because of this period of time, Bangladesh Govt banned fishing Hilsa fish. So around this time, highly possible that tourists can’t get their desirable Hilsha fish. Tourists can be disappointed in Mawa Ghat around this time.
Special Note:
Dhaka – Mawa Highway is one of the finest roads in my country and because of that people rush their cars/bikes at high speed on this road. As a result, it causes accidents, and people lose their lives. So, my buddies drive carefully on this road.
*Which vehicles cause maximum accidents on the Dhaka- Mawa express highway?
Bike, Young people around 21-28 like to drive fast on this road. As a result, they cause extreme accidents on the road.

1. Best Restaurant in Mawa Ghat?
Many people visit Mawa Ghat specifically for the Hilsa fish, and numerous restaurants are offering it. The food and taste at these restaurants are generally quite similar. It depends on the price of Hilsha fish. Typically 2000-2200 BDT is enough for a group of 5-6 to enjoy the food there.
4. Tourist spots near the Ghat?
The Padma River and the dream Padma Bridge.
