Mohamaya Lake

Mohamaya Lake is an excellent beauty of the Chittagong District that provides thrills, joy, and a pleasing experience all at the same time. The vastness of great beauty where the lake and hilly-type forest come together like friends and its single glance is enough to make tourists fall for it. An even more amazing thing is it is the second-biggest man-made lake in my country which is 11 sq. km. Man-made means Due to human activities, just as the Kaptai Lake formed when humans were trying to build a dam. Exactly the same story goes with Mohamaya Lake and even their fate is exactly the same. Nature accepts them even though they are man-made and presents them to the world so charmingly that tourists like them very much. Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWBD) is in charge of maintaining the lake and I feel BWBD needs to do more for the lake, after all the lake is one of the great tourist spots in Chittagong and is known for its panoramic views.
How to go to Mohamaya Lake:
Mohamaya Lake is a slice of beauty at Mirsorai in Chittagong District and the best way to go to Mirsorai is by road. From Dhaka, take any bus to Chittagong and get down to Mirsarai. Mirsrai is located 56 or 58 kilometers before Chittagong. To go to Mohamaya Lake, tourists have to get off at Thakur Dighi Bazar in Mirsorai. From there Mohamaya Lake is just 2 km away and there are a lot of local vehicles called CNG available to take tourists to the lake.

Activity:
Essential Activities to Enjoy at Mohamaya Lake

1. Kayaking: This lake is famous for Kayaking and it seems to me that kayaking became famous in my country just because of this lake, tourists can enjoy nature to their heart’s content by kayaking along the winding path between the green hills. So it is not only the best tourist place in Chittagong but also the best in all of Bangladesh for kayaking.
2. Boating: Boating is the only way to hunt down the entire beauty of the Mohamaya Lake. So, don’t say no to boating and rent a boat as a group, it will save you money.
3. Waterfall: In this lake, there is a waterfall known as Mohamaya waterfall. But it seems to me more like a stream than a waterfall that comes down through the hills. It’s so tiny but it looks so gorgeous in its surroundings. So, while boating on this lake, tell your boatman to take you there.
Kayaking, boating, and seeing the Mohamaya waterfall is the joy.
Enhance your travel experience even more
4. A khum-type area: A khum is a narrow water channel that is shielded by hills on both sides. In this lake, there is a khum-type area which is very unknown to tourists. So, maximums end their Mohamaya Lake trip without visiting this beautiful part. It is true that where there is less human crowed there is a peak nature.
5. A cave-type area: There is a part of this lake where the forest grows in such a way that creates a cave-like structure and boats can run below it. So, tourists can enjoy it but tourists need to be careful because there are a lot of monkeys and they can snatch anything.
6. Camping: Till now only men can stay overnight by camping at the Mohamaya Lake. To do the camping by the side of the lake and enjoy the elegant vibe of the lake in the morning, tourists need to book the package in advance.
Going camping and visiting cave-type parts and khum parts are thrilling adventures.
7. There is a walking trail around the lake with many sitting settings, allowing tourists to roam on their own.
8. Recently, the authority of the lake built some settings around the lake to help tourists capture their best moments while visiting this lake
Overall doing all these things in Mohamaya Lake is a pleasure.

Best time to visit:
According to Huntingworlbeauty, December to February. During this time, the lake looks so stunning, the weather becomes cool and comfortable for roaming, and tourists can do everything I mentioned above.

Stay and Eat
Mahamaya Lake and the eco-park can be explored completely in a day, so usually, no tourists stay here. If someone wants to stay, then he will have to camp there. However, you have to book in advance to camp and they provide everything for camping. And this camp is available only for boys, girls cannot camp. There is no food facility inside the park, the authorities have done a very good job. Bengalis are the kind of people who throw garbage everywhere, If there was a food facility inside the park, the park would have looked like a garbage place rather than an eco-park. However, there are many food shops at the entrance of the park, so tourists can satisfy their hunger here.
