Visit my city Dhaka, Bangladesh
My city
Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. I have been living here for 23 years and also I’m a travel loving person. So, I know more about my city than anyone around. Dhaka is one of the most densly populated cities in the world. More than 25 million people live here and millions of people rush here to work every single day. So, you can imagine how crowded and busy my city is every single day. Dhaka is also known for its traffic jams. Here you can find traffic jams at midnight. Construction in Dhaka is a constant thing. I’m not saying construction is bad. Here in Dhaka, I find abnormal construction. I live in Maniknagar, Dhaka where every year my local area road is destroyed by the name of development. Then, they fix it. And Again, the next year the story seems same. You can see this type of scenerio anywhere in Dhaka. The worst thing about Dhaka is its air quality. It’s not ideal for breathing. Rapid urbanization, construction, and industrial pollution are the reasons for Dhaka’s worst air quality. Anywhere in the world, you can find two types of people good and bad. In Dhaka, This is also same. If you are lucky enough, you can see some guys come on a bike or CNG and rob someone. Isn’t it interesting? In Dhaka, some heinous crimes happened, that were unforgetable. The accident rate of Dhaka is quite high, especially in bikes and Rickshaw. Each day at least one bike accident occurs in Dhaka. It’s the one part of Dhaka.
Is it worth to visit Dhaka?
On the other hand, Dhaka is one of the most beautiful cities in the world I have ever seen. Dhaka is known for its Mosque. On every road in Dhaka, you can find at least one mosque. Many people call Dhaka ‘The City of Mosque’. Dhaka is also famous for its street foods, especially in Puran Dhaka, khilgaon, Mohammadpur, and many more areas.
Oh sorry! We are here to talk about why you should visit Dhaka. Frankly speaking, Dhaka has so many bad sides but it has so many things that make it worth visiting.
You already know Dhaka is known for its Mosque. The famous mosques of Dhaka are Tara Mosque, Sat Gambuj Mosque, and Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. I like these three Mosques. The Tara mosque is located at Armanitola in Dhaka. This mosque was made by local a man named Mirza Ghulam Pir in the first half of the 19th century. The 2nd one is located in the Mohammadpur area. It is one of the fine examples of Mughal-style architecture. The last one is the national mosque of Bangladesh. Also, it is the largest Mosque in Bangladesh. 42,000 people together can pray their prayers in the mosque each time. I often go there for prayers. It is located at Gulistan. You can visit these Mosques.
Attractions of Dhaka
Dhaka offers some interesting places like Lalbhag Fort, Ahsan Manzil, Bahadur Shah Park, and Curzon Hall etc. These are worth exploring. These places have their own history which made them worth visiting. Lalbag Fort is located beside the river of Buriganga in Dhaka. It is an incomplete fort. It was also made by the mughals. Ahsan Manzil is also situated by the river Buriganga but it is in the Kumartoli area. Then comes Curzon Hall, which is connected to our liberation war. It was made by the British and now it is used for the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Dhaka. If you are the one who likes historical places, then you should visit Bangladesh National Museum, Central Shaheed Minar, Liberation War Museum, Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, National Martyrs’ Memorial, and many more places. These places will tell you how we achieve the freedom of our country.
My favaourite foods in Dhaka.
If you love to eat delicious foods, try my cities Kacchi Biriyani, Bhuna Khichuri, Sheek Kabab, and Ilish Curry. I love to eat these 4 items. Whenever I get a chance, I eat these dishes. There are many more signature foods that you can eat in Dhaka. In winter, you can enjoy various kinds of pitha in my city.
Stay and walkable places in Dhaka
Now, if you want to rest in a luxury way, you can rest in the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel or InterContinental Dhaka. These two are the best 5-star Hotels of Dhaka.
After eating and resting, if you wanna walk in the fresh air, come to Hatir Jheel. It is a huge lake in the center of Dhaka. It is used to decrease Dhaka’s traffic jam. But Dhaka’s people love to walk by the side of the lake and refresh their body and mind from everyday stress. I used to go there in my college time. It was one of my favorite places in my collage time. You can also enjoy boating rides on the lake.
Modern areas of Dhaka
Oh sorry, I have forgotten to tell you that you can find the modern city life in Gulshan, Banani, Dhanmondi, Baridhara, Uttara, Bashundhara, and Mirpur, etc. Also, these are the areas where the majority of rich people of Dhaka live. This area’s environment is quite excellent. These areas have the best facilities like good roads, hospitals, education, etc than other areas of Dhaka.
Shopping places in Dhaka
Now, If you are thinking about shopping, Bashundhara City Shopping Mall and Jamuna Future Park are the best shopping malls in Dhaka. You can buy comfortably whatever you want. The funny thing is I have just bought phones for me and my family members from here. I’m the one who like to buy good things at a cheaper rate. But for shopping, I like to go to New Market, taltola Market, and Gulistan Footpath Market. Here, in these places, you have to keep your eyes open otherwise you will be scammed. Isn’t it a bit exciting?
If you are in Dhaka or want to explore Dhaka, At least visit the places I mentioned above to find my city’s beauty.
